What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is an extremely effective method of adjusting bones and joints to improve skeletal alignment.

The treatment encourages the function of these systems and alleviates the body of the conditions that can affect their performance.

The McTimoney Chiropractic technique is a low-force, gentle, precise method of treatment that allows the nervous system to work more efficiently, helps relieve pain and improves mobility without the use of medication.

Medical Acupuncture/Dry Needling

Janine's service, medical acupuncture or dry needling, offers a holistic approach to pain management and wellness. Through the precise insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body, Janine aims to alleviate discomfort, restore balance, and promote overall health and well-being.

Dry needling, focuses on releasing trigger points in muscles and connective tissue. Janine's skilled hands locate these areas of tension or dysfunction and gently insert needles to stimulate a therapeutic response. This technique can effectively relieve muscle tightness, spasms, and pain, facilitating improved range of motion and function.

Testimonials

  • "I cannot recommend Janine more highly. After my first treatment, my daily headaches were gone, my shoulder pain was gone and my 8-week sciatica pain (which was not responding to medication or physio) was significantly reduced to a more than manageable dull ache. I have just completed my third treatment, I feel like a new woman, Janine has worked miracles and she is fabulous."

    Laura Staniforth

  • "Fantastic results on my frozen shoulder. I noticed a big improvement after two sessions with Janine Cotterill. She’s very professional in her approach. I would recommend"

    Brian Turner

  • "After a few short sessions the back pain had reduced so much that I was confident to hit the gym. It sounds dramatic but I feel like I have my life back. I just want to say a massive thank you to Janine!"

    Sumaiya Patel

  • "Janine did a great job sorting out my chronic neck and back pain. I’d been on strong painkillers for months and was able to stop taking them after only two sessions. I am a professional drummer/percussionist and had not been able to gig for ages. The pain was even affecting my teaching work too. Finally, I am back doing what I love. Am happy to have found a practitioner I trust."

    David Bowen

  • "I had been suffering from debilitating headaches for several months, which could wipe me out for up to 10 days. They did not fall into any specific pathway to help the GP make a diagnosis and after an emergency MRI scan and various medications I was no further forward. The one constant was an excruciating pain forking from my neck upwards, so I decided to see a chiropractor. Janine very quickly diagnosed several problems including CGH (Cervicogenic Headaches). Since starting treatment with Janine and doing daily exercises at home, I now haven't had a headache for two months. I can't recommend the Janine highly enough – seeing a chiropractor works"

    Nicola

  • "I have had trouble with my back for many years, and recently had a trapped sciatic nerve. I don’t know what Janine did, but she is a miracle worker! While the sciatic pain was being treated with pain relief, the pain was still bad, along with my chronic back problems, leaving me dependent on a stick. However, when Janine had worked her magic, I felt 2” taller and I was free of the sciatic pain. I would totally recommend Janine. I look forward to my next visit."

FAQ

  • At your initial appointment, your chiropractor will ask for your full medical history. You will be asked to provide information such as your current problem, previous illness, accidents and operations. This information will ensure whether chiropractic care is a safe and effective option for you.
Your chiropractor will then carry out range of motion tests, and neurological and orthopaedic tests where required. She will then discuss the treatment and your goals. All treatments are bespoke, to obtain the best result for you and your health.

  • Follow-up treatments build on the initial treatment and help speed up the recovery process. They are 20–30 minutes long and your chiropractor will discuss how many you will need with you.

  • This will vary from person to person but your chiropractor will chat to you about it at your initial assessment. Your progress will be reviewed regularly and your care plan reviewed where necessary.

  • Chiropractors are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council and are unable to work under the title of ‘Chiropractor’ without this. Janine is also a member of The Royal College of Chiropractors and The McTimoney Chiropractic Association.

  • Loose-fitting clothing is best. You may be asked to remove your outer layers of clothing for the treatment but appropriate towels/robes will be provided.
